LOCHLAN

It took two hours to get there. It was an incredibly small town. Houses adorned with twinkling Christmas lights and decoration.

I didn’t know what we would do in this place, but I knew that together, as long as we stayed with each other, everything would figure itself out. I relied on him somewhat and I trusted him to protect me from everything that would throw itself at us.

We parked up in the flickering light of a motel with a vacancy sign. We were really free, although we were still close to New York, and it was enough to keep the knots in my stomach secure.

Daddy rubbed my head before kissing it. “I’ll get us a room for the night until tomorrow evening,” he said. “We can get all cleaned up for tomorrow. I’ll get the house sorted out while you’re sleeping here, I think that’s what’s going to happen, at least. I hope that’s what’s going to happen.”

“I hope so too.”

He took the envelope of cash from inside the dashboard and flicked through it, pulling out the notes that weren’t covered in blood. The blood on both our hands had dried and come off, and thanks to me finding the first aid kit, I’d managed to wipe it away with the wet napkins.

“There doesn’t look like there’s many people here, so we shouldn’t have any problems.”

“I can help,” I said, batting my eyes at him. “You know I can just compel him to—” my voice tapered off into a quiet. I knew he didn’t like me to use my power like that. It took away the person’s free will when I compelled them into doing something like that and of course, I knew that was wrong, and I shouldn’t have done it, but sometimes, to protect myself, and him, it was necessary.

“Baby,” his said, softly, brushing the back of his hand against my cheek. “If it comes to that, then I’ll let you.” He gave me another kiss. “I’ll be five minutes, plus, you have way too much blood on your shirt.”

He was right about that. He had a jacket with him, hiding the blood. It was exhilarating to see him covered like that. Excitement bubbled through me, staring at the hips where my body begged to rock back and forth, almost as if I was getting ready to ride him.

Caught in my imagination, Daddy tapped a knuckle on the glass. He waved a room key. “Let’s go.”

Stepping out onto the snow-covered parking lot, I looked out to see the old woman near the dimly lit office window staring.

“Is this a rent by the hour situation?” I asked. “What type of town is this?”

Daddy chuckled. “Firstly, it’s on the edge of town, and secondly, it’s welcomed both of us into its arms, so your guess is as good as mine.” He wrapped an arm around my shoulder as he guided me across the lot to the motel room. He was shuddering in the cold, while it barely tickled me.

The motel was clean, but the curtains were awful.
